Autoresponders – You Can’t Do Without at Least One

List Building and Email Follow-up Can Be Automated with the Help of an Autoresponder

When it comes to e-commerce, in any form, you are looking to accomplish a few important things: market your wares to as many customers as possible, have them return, and build a list of potential customers and former customers–to  stay in touch with them–mostly by email.  You want to share information and opportunities to entice them to return to purchase more of your wares.

The three principal areas of interest are: marketing, list building and keeping in touch.  An Autoresponseplus can help you efficiently deal with all three.

MARKETING

  • Your website is your first contact with most of your customers.  If you have created a website that is full of rich and valuable content, you are presenting a promotional opportunity for the visitors.  You don’t have to provide them with anything more than “something they need.”  They will respond accordingly–purchase, sign-up, etc.
  • As a part of your marketing campaign you want to establish a positive standing with these potential customers, and once they have purchased something, you want to keep in touch with them for future sales.  It often takes  6 to 8 contacts before sufficient trust has been established to expect a purchase.  Not all first time visitors will purchase from you.
  • You need to provide them with information and opportunity on a regular basis to help them become customers.
  • E-commerce is a numbers program.  You are looking to present your offerings to as many potential buyers as possible.  Providing future opportunities to viewers who must have had an interest in your website to have come to it to begin with is essential to your success.  The benefit to follow-up marketing is they are now “warm” leads–those who have already shown and interest.
    • You want and need to increase your conversion rate.  Getting prior visitors to purchase may be easier because of their interest.

LIST BUILDING

  • Traffic has come to your site . . . with a purchaser or two along the way, but many more have come and gone.  You need to capture these prospects before they leave your website to “stay in touch” in the hope of converting them in the future to customers.
  • Having an autoresponder is an easy automated way to have interested prospects opt-in (see our article on “Opt-in Mailing Lists.”)to a mailing list:  newsletter subscription, e-zine, e-course, special offers, etc.  This opt-in function is them requesting you to send them more information regarding the products, services, ideas and helps.
  • You eliminate your emails from going directly to their  “SPAM BOX” tag because they have requested you send them the information.  They always have the right to “opt-out” if they choose–which also helps reduce any potential legal hassles.
    • Your list building effort can be created through squeeze pages (where they must provide “sign-up” information–their email address being one of them–in order to get to information you are providing; and pop-up or drop down sign-up forms.
    • If you closed one sale for every thousand contacts, what would your closing rate be if you mailed only to your list–if it were a hundred thousand?  You figure the $$$$ of profit. (Think of how many visitors you have to encourage to your site–assuming you’re a great promoter.  How long would it take you to get a hundred thousand visitors a second time?

KEEPING IN TOUCH

  • As noted above, you gain a great deal of opportunity by providing a continuous flow of information and opportunities to those who have signed up for your mailing service.
  • Those who have opted into receiving your e-mailings  are asking you to provide them with more information and reasons to purchase your wares.
  • The prime email information provided is via a newsletter.  It doesn’t have to fancy or long, but it must be factual and consistent.
  • E-zines and e-books are other channels used to “keep in touch.”  They can be the entity you are marketing, in which case, you may send them fliers or teaser quotes with the offer to purchase.

    • Be careful that your contact are only “purchase” offers.  This can turn off potential buyers.  Some of the information you send should provide them with helpful  information and reasons why they should purchase.

As an Internet Marketer, the making of money on the Internet, you have a much better chance of succeeding with the help of an autoresponder.  These automated software systems will help you obtain names and email addresses.  Let’s review the basic reasons for utilizing an autoresponder:

  1. Simplicity of collecting names and email address of customers and potential (interested) customers.
  2. Efficient, fast and easy means to serve your client list with follow-up information.
  3. A great way to deliver quality digital information: links, images, etc.
  4. Increase the formation of trust and confidence in customer and future customers.
  5. Cost effective way to stay in touch.
  6. You can segment your lists:  customers vs potential customers.  If you have more than one website you may be able to send them information about your other offerings.
  7. You can provide personalized and unique messages.
  8. Your information can be customized with your logo, images and eye catching colors.
  9. Share the latest information they may be interested in concerning your website’s theme or focus.
  10. E-zines and links to e-books are easy to provide.
  11. Your contacts will be continuous and flawless.
  12. Autoresponders help you be consistent and persistent in providing opportunities for future sales.

There are several autoresponder opportunities for you to use.  We use, and highly recommend, Autoresponseplus because of their ability and willingness to work with other list creating programs like ListCrew.
